The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen is constantly expanding its course offer, with regard to industrial and scientific development. For this, the faculty has built a broad network with big corporations of the region; and, with practice-oriented courses, it provides opportunity for students to develop skills and competencies that employers most need. Now, the faculty has made a cooperation agreement with another industrial partner, EcoPro Global Hungary Zrt, which produces cathode material for rechargeable batteries.
- This September we launch the Materials Engineering bachelor’s programme in which courses related to batteries are an important element. In addition, we plan to launch Batteries specialization in the Chemistry and the Chemical Engineering bachelor’s programme. In the courses, we count on professionals and engineers of EcoPro Global Hungary Zrt. This cooperation allows launching internship programmes as well as joint elaboration of theses. We also seek possibilities of launching dual training and conducting joint research projects, said Ferenc Kun, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen.
As a result of increased demand for electric vehicles, the corporation specializing in cathode material started planning its first foreign factory in 2018 and selected Debrecen as its location. The foundation stone of the approximately HUF 280 billion investment was laid in the spring of 2023 in the Southern Economic Zone.
- EcoPro Global Hungary Zrt has a long-term commitment to Debrecen, which is why continuous cooperation with the university is important to us. The first step in establishing a good partnership is signing a joint memorandum of understanding with the Faculty of Science and Technology. Our goal is to find highly qualified professionals, actively participate in their training, and secure full-time jobs and career at our company after graduation, said Sun Dong Chang, CEO of EcoPro Global Hungary Zrt.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Dean Ferenc Kun and CEO Sun Dong Chang at the event held in Debrecen University.
