Students of the UD, who took part in the nuclear energy competition, known as Hackatom organised by Rosatom Central-Europe, Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. along with Paks II. Ltd, this spring, had the chance to get acquainted with Unit 4 of Paks Nuclear Power Plant on the spot.

On 11th October, a total of 55 students – most of them are students at the University of Debrecen, but besides them, students at the University of Pécs and University of Dunaújváros also took part in the event – travelled to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.

The students visited the Information and Visitors Centre of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd, where they were welcomed by information officer Zoltán Róbert Tóth and introduced the Centre, following a brief introduction by Lóránt Kóti, PR manager of Rosatom Central Europe.

The students visited Unit 4 of Paks Nuclear Power Plant, where they took a look at the reactor hall and the turbine hall. A presentation by biophysicist Pável Szerbin, European Union expert of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. was held on the spot. Numerous questions could be asked by the students concerning the extension of Paks Nuclear Power Plant and the closing of the nuclear fuel cycle.

The informative meeting ended with a lunch at Paks Fishermen’s Tavern, where the interested students had further informal conversations with the experts of Rosatom and Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
