Danubius Young Scientist Awards 2024 were presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Danube Rectors' Conference in Krems, Austria. The award was founded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe, and it is given every year to an outstanding young researcher from each of the 14 countries participating in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The award aims to highlight the work and talent of young professionals and to increase the visibility of the scientific community in the region.
Out of a total of 140 candidates this year, the prize was awarded to Ágnes Rusznyák, Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular and Nanopharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Debrecen (DE GYTK).
Research conducted by Ágnes Rusznyák focuses chiefly on the examination of the cellular effects of cyclodextrins and their RNA carrier capacity. In addition, she is also active in investigating the formulation and analysis of nanoparticles and innovative buccal patches containing different agents.
“Receiving this recognition was indeed an enormous pleasure for me. It is almost inconceivable that my work is noticed and recognized at the European level. The certificate I received in Austria will surely be framed and put up on the wall at home," Ms. Rusznyák said.
The young researcher from Debrecen is the first author of three academic publications in prestigious international journals and a co-author of sixteen papers. These publications have been independently cited as many as 432 times, producing an overall impact factor of 82.8.
Ágnes Rusznyák is a regular participant at various national and international professional congresses and conferences, where she duly presents her latest research findings. Our young pharmacist is also actively involved in the practical training of Hungarian and international pharmacy students, while she also supervises the work of several students as an advisor. In addition, she is involved in talent management for young pharmacists, mentoring students enrolled in Sántha Kálmán College of Advanced Studies in Pharmacy.
