The vice rector for scientific affairs of UD told hirek.unideb.hu that even though the talks were in an early phase, it could already be foreseen that the area of engineering would be supported in the future by a cooperation in developing academic programmes and the extension of students' and lecturers' mobility.
At the meeting of the managing body of CARPE consortium held in Brussels on 27-28 November the University of Debrecen was represented by László Csernoch vice rector for scientific affairs and Zsolt Varga science director.
At the meeting László Csernoch gave a presentation on the preparation of the FP9 R&D programme of the EU (Horizon Europe). The immediate tasks of the consortium were also discussed, with special regard to the October 2019 CARPE conference in Valencia (Spain), where lecturers from UD will also be present, according to plans.
The University of Debrecen joined the Consortium on Applied Research and Professional Education as an associate member. The consortium was established by universities that put great emphasis on applied research in their programmes. Even though they are not located in capital cities (Hamburg, Utrecht, Valencia, Turku), due to their popularity and importance they are among the major universities in their respective countries. In 2017, after two years of successful cooperation, the members of the consortium decided to accept UD as a full member.
