In his welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Debrecen András Hajdu underlined the following: As the interest in the professional conference grows, more and more researchers share their scientific findings and results, all of which shows that CITDS is becoming an increasingly prestigious and recognized international meeting place for researchers working in the fields of informatics and data science.
- The scope of our conference is deliberately broad. Developments in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, communication technologies and cybersecurity are increasingly intertwined nowadays. Progress in one area often creates new opportunities or new challenges in another area. This is clearly demonstrated in this year's scientific program. One of the strengths of CITDS lies in the fact that it does not treat artificial intelligence in isolation, but connects it with areas such as cybersecurity, communication, software development, mathematical modeling and real-world engineering applications. We are also advancing towards a stage when our conference proceedings would be included in the research database of the IEEE Xplore digital library- said the head of the faculty.
The dean also added the following: It is of utmost importance for the University of Debrecen to host as many international forums as possible similar to the present one, where renowned researchers, young scientists and students can meet face to face to discuss current developments in information technology and data science.
Indeed, there were several internationally recognized experts present at the event, giving academic presentations, starting with Helen (Eleni) D. Karatza, Professor Emeritus at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. She talked about her own research area and presented the most advanced research findings in the fields of cloud, fog and edge computing.
- Currently, we are focusing on resource management and scheduling issues, the solution of which is essential for cloud-based systems to become suitable for performing high-performance computing tasks and for the efficient scheduling of complex, time-critical and real-time applications. These latter techniques are of crucial significance, as performance largely depends on them- said the Greek professor.
During the two days of the conference, participants could listen to presentations on the application areas of artificial intelligence, stochastic and temporal data analysis, autonomous vehicles, embedded systems, security and data protection, the Internet of Things (IoT) and network technologies, software technologies, computational models and several other related topics. As artificial intelligence played a prominent part on the agenda, the academic talks delivered in this regard ranged from large language models and multimodal AI to medical applications, explainability of AI, computer vision and forecasts, and even industrial systems.
This year, CITDS was closely connected to the AIDA AICET summer symposium and school, so the conference program was also open to participants in this hybrid professional event.
