There are six countries, including Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Lithuania, Hungary and Moldova, participating in this initiative, which is funded by the EU4Health program. The objective of the project is to strengthen the so-called antimicrobial stewardship, a professional practice promoting the appropriate and prudent use of antimicrobial agents as well as hospital activities dedicated to infection prevention and control. By involving experts from the Clinical Centre, the program supports the professional development of the local institution.
The first visits during the course of this year are meant to be followed next year by targeted training sessions, mentoring, and the provision of support to facilitate the implementation of developments. By assisting in the coordinated development of appropriate antimicrobial use and infection prevention, this initiative contributes to increasing patient safety and tackling antimicrobial resistance.
The recent Debrecen visit marked the start of a series of consequent expert visits in Hungary within the project, scheduled to take place between October 5 and 9. The Clinical Centre of the University of Debrecen was the first Hungarian site to join this phase of the international program.
