The Faculty of Engineering and EVE Power have signed a strategic partnership agreement

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen has concluded an agreement with EVE Power Hungary Kft. on the development of practice-oriented engineering programs, the training of new talent in shortage occupations and the launching of a targeted education program. The agreement was officially signed on Thursday, July 2.

The objective of the collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen and EVE Power is to create a modern knowledge base with targeted training programs and other developments. Upon signing the agreement, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Géza Husi noted that its basic principles had been clarified during the course of a professional visit to the company’s headquarters located in China.

- This cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen and EVE Power Hungary Kft. constitutes a new milestone in a long-term, strategic partnership, the basic goal of which is to establish a modern knowledge base, founded on close collaboration between the university and industry in order to directly support the future of the battery industry and sustainable mobility- said the dean.

- The key focus area of the new partnership is the development of practice-oriented engineering education, especially in the fields of battery production, automation and quality assurance. According to this commitment, the University of Debrecen will launch a course on an optional subject as of September 2026, which can be signed up for freely from any faculty of the university- said Géza Husi. He also added that the possibility of introducing another training program that would span several semesters is also under consideration.

The dean also said to hírek.unideb.hu the following: As a component of the cooperation project, the company’s employees will also be able to take part in the instruction of certain subjects, while there will be opportunities for them to jointly supervise theses, dissertations and research projects on industrial topics.

An important cogwheel in the machinery of the future cooperation will be the Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics of the Faculty of Engineering.

- It is our strategic goal to establish long-term, mutually value-creating partnerships with the key industrial players of our immediate region. We are fully convinced that modern engineering education can only be implemented today by relying on close cooperation between university and industrial players- said Sándor Hajdu, the head of the department.

- The present agreement with EVE Power Hungary Kft. is a really important milestone for us. The professional competence areas available at our department, especially the knowledge and development potential related to electrical engineering and mechatronics training, are closely related to the company’s chief activities: so, we foresee a good opportunity here for the development of genuine professional synergies,” said the head of the department.

At present, EVE Power is one of the largest battery manufacturers of the world, in the process of establishing its first European plant in the city of Debrecen. The company specializes in the development and production of high-performance lithium-ion battery cells.

- For EVE Power Hungary Kft., the cause of supporting education is an issue of strategic importance. Our company’s goal is to contribute to the practice-oriented training of the future generations of engineers in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen and to combine academic knowledge and industrial experience closer together- said Ádám Kovács, the company’s head of public relations.

Ádám Kovács also elaborated on how EVE Power believes that one of the keys to Debrecen’s technological development is actual cooperation between education and industry. The head of public relations at EVE Power’s Debrecen plant is convinced that young engineers should get a chance to acquire practical, industry-related knowledge as early as during their university years, while recognizing the possibility of a potential professional future in Debrecen.

As a sponsor of the Formula Student team of the University of Debrecen, EVE Power Hungary Kft. also contributes to UD students’ access to practical experience, thereby genuinely strengthening the connection between industry and university.
