DESzínház’s visit to Stuttgart

DESzínház Vígkarma Társulat (Theatrical Company), which operates in professional partnership with the Arts Center of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Debrecen, represented Hungary at the AMAfest in Stuttgart with its English-language theater performance.

The AmaFest international amateur theater festival was first organized in 2019 with the aim of providing a space for amateur theater companies to present themselves and exchange ideas, because they honestly believe that the world of amateur theater presents many exciting, experimental aspects that are worth sharing with the general public.

At this recent meeting, in addition to the host Germany, the audience could also see Estonian, Romanian, Italian and Polish troupes. One of the special features of the productions was that almost all groups.

- It is important for the company to be able to present itself on the international stage, where it is considered unique that we were able to stage an English-language production - Zsigmond Lakó told hirek.unideb.hu.

The director of the Art Center of the Faculty of Arts (BTK) of the University of Debrecen (DE), the leader of the theatrical company, emphasized: a successful performance also lays the foundation for what to do in the coming months, as we are already preparing for the II. The MUST All-Arts Meeting, the 2023 AITA World Meeting organized as part of the Theater Olympiad, will be held at the Csokonai Forum.

János Regős, president of the Hungarian Theatre Organization, accompanied the five-member company that consists of current and former students of the University of Debrecen (Barta Viola, Veronika Tar, Sándor Marton, Dániel Szabó, and Péter Szurdoki) on their trip to Stuttgart. The performance was directed by Péter Szurdoki, teacher of the Art Center, Faculty of Arts, University of Debrecen.
