Éva Risztov participated in the Olympic Games for the fourth time in her life. In 2012, she won an Olympic gold medal in London. At present, she goes to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at UD, where she studies sports management. In Rio, she competed first on Thursday, and she won in her qualifying round of the event of 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:33. This result meant that she finished 14th after the qualifying rounds, so she did not get into the finals. On Monday, however, she raced for a repeat in the 10-km open-water swimming event as a title holder.
“I have arrived in Rio and will also leave from here as a champion. The path to this stage has been spiced with rising at dawn for the past 26 years, with occasional failures and recoveries. I would like to thank everybody who has believed in me day after day and done their best to help me to be successful in Rio. In the end, I finished 13th; the 13th best in the world. I am proud of my entire swimming career and of the fact that I could represent Hungary for the fourth consecutive time now. I am happy even without a medal, because I have had a lot of pleasant experiences,” wrote the 30-year old swimmer on her social networking website in taking farewell to Rio and active swimming.
Márk Papp also studies sports management at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at UD. The young talent of 22 went to his first Olympics and competed as the last man swimming in Hungarian national colors on Tuesday. In the men’s 10-km open-water swimming event, Márk raced to the valuable 13th place in a very strong field, clocking 1:53:11.
