The responses of over 2,000 Hungarian and 500 foreign students were considered by the Webportál, Application Development and VIR Centre (WAV) of UD during the development of the new application.
- We wanted to create an application that meets students' demands, so we carried out a survey. We were surprised by the number of respondents. Actually, they made our work easy, because they, the users, told us what basic functions should be included in the application – said Szilvia Vincze, head of WAV to hirek.unideb.hu.
The UD Studyversity manages data coming from the Neptun, information about subjects taken by the student, shows their financial balance, allows them to synchronise their timetable and exam dates registered in the system with the calendar on their phones, and can even navigate them to the building where their next class will take place. Students receive up-to-date information about scholarship programmes, as well as about registrars departments and the opening hours. Students also receive information about university news and events. The data comes from the Students' Administration Centre.
- The application receives data from the databases of the university in order to provide students with up-to-date information. Besides education-related and Neptun information, it also informs students about offices and restaurants, and students can check public transportation information and timetables as well. We wanted to provide access to all relevant information in a single application, so that they do not have to search on the internet – explained Szilvia Vincze. She added that with a special function students can report their mood. After 150 reports they receive a gift.
The development of the application, which is available both in Hungarian and in English, started in January, with the involvement of WAV and other developers. According to plan, in the future the application will allow direct contact with teachers, and will navigate students to the classrooms.
UD Studyversity is compatible with Android- and iOS.
