At the meeting, the participants of the event reviewed the results of the cooperation between the educational institutions and the companies of the business service sector, evaluated the joint work that has taken place in the past period, and also mapped out directions for future development.
- The symposium is a good opportunity to have a broad exchange of ideas about a cooperation that affects students, families, educational institutions and employers alike - Péter Csatár, Deputy Dean for Strategy and Economy of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Debrecen, said in his welcome speech.
The participants of the Friday event were also greeted by Beáta Szoták, director of DT-ITS Telecommunication Services, on behalf of the Debrecen BSC Round Table.
Both leaders emphasized that the symposium is a unique initiative nationally and perhaps throughout Europe, which also creates an excellent opportunity for long-term coordination of educational developments.
First in the program, Éva Kissné Nyéki, project manager of the Debrecen BSC Round Table, summarized the most important results of the last five years of joint work with the sector and public and higher education actors. After that, Róbert Hosszu, managing director of NI, gave a thought-provoking presentation on the challenges, emphasizing the need to rethink the relationship of trust between leaders and employees.
Bernadett Buda, HR director of Diehl Aviation Hungary, emphasized the role of foreign languages, which are valuable for the sector, in career building. Szakács Szabolcs, the managing director of Transcosmos Kft., outlined the business service sector’s challenges in the present and near future.
At the round table discussion following the presentations Sándor Szilágyi, general director of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center (DSZC), highlighted the importance of the existing forms of cooperation - dual training, talent support programs, competitions and factory visits - through which students can gain hands on experience at the companies operating in the city, their work environment, and meet their colleagues directly.
A large number of students from the University of Debrecen (DE) and the Faculty of Arts (BTK) are employed in the business services sector, which offers fresh graduates a constantly renewing work environment and expanding career opportunities.
The representatives of the companies unanimously agreed that a high level of proficiency in foreign languages - including English, German, Dutch or Polish - are entry cards that can lay the foundation for a long-term successful career in the sector.
The representatives of UD, the Debrecen BSC Round Table, and DSZC agreed that the forms of cooperation developed and used so far are satisfactory, but it would be important to pay more attention to and provide more substantial support for exceptionally talented students in both secondary and higher education. The participants also deemed it equally important that the skills required in the sector should be integrated into both university and secondary education in the future.
At the symposium, participants also agreed that the institutions and companies participating in the program will establish a consultation forum, tasked with evaluating results and initiating new joint developments.
