Graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Health Sciences: a caring presence

At the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen, more than five hundred graduating students received their diplomas. From this point on, they will be able to work in the future in a variety of fields as bio-informaticians, rehabilitation specialists, social workers and physiotherapists. In addition to handing out the diplomas at the graduation ceremony, the faculty representatives also recognized, honored and awarded the most outstanding students, lecturers and employees of the faculty.

The graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen was held in three parts on Friday, where a total of five hundred and forty graduates received their diplomas as certified health social workers, certified health bioinformaticians, certified rehabilitation specialists, certified social economy specialists, certified nutritionists, nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, public health specialists, certified health teachers, certified extended-care nurses, social studies teachers, ambulance officers, midwives, public health nurses and social workers.

In her speech, Dean Marianna Móré emphasized that the professional life of graduates is always determined by their ability to act as a quality presence in their work. She also underlined that they must put their knowledge to good use in a way that also upholds and strengthens the dignity of others.

- There is hardly anything better than the concept of presence that would express more sensibly the common essence of the training programs of the Faculty of Health Sciences, since one of the most important common features of the health sciences, social sciences and teaching vocations is indeed the issue of presence in the modern philosophical sense, i.e., the quality of getting connected. During the course of your future work, you will encounter illness and healing, vulnerability and hope, loss and fresh starts, people who will need not only your professional knowledge but also someone who will take them seriously and who will not look away. In this sense, your presence will not be merely a human virtue, but also a professional duty. Your chosen profession cannot be measured exclusively in procedures, protocols and statistics. Its value will also be reflected in whether your presence will be able to strengthen human dignity where it is in danger, awaken hope where uncertainty reigns and create a feeling of community where someone is left alone. As health and social specialists, teachers, leaders and researchers, your professional knowledge should be accompanied by human attentive presence, the ability without which no profession can be complete. With this diploma earned through the completion of your studies and your best efforts, you will have the noble task of preserving the prestige of your beautiful profession by working in the fields of health preservation, care and health protection with a dedication that contributes to the improvement of the social situation of the population and the protection of its health- said the head of the faculty.
