International Scientific PhD Conference 2026, hosted and organized by the Doctoral School of Management and Business (Doctoral Program in Management and Organizational Sciences) at the University of Debrecen, provided a top-quality international academic forum for researchers participating in doctoral programs. Besides the primary objective of this conference to provide a forum for presenting the research findings of PhD students, it was also expected to promote scientific and scholarly discourse while strengthening international professional relationships.
- The conference program, which featured almost one hundred presentations, indicates the extensive academic network around our doctoral school. The thematic distribution of the conference sections covered the most prominent areas of economics and management sciences, such as digitalization and applied economics, sustainability and ESG issues, leadership and HR management, financial management and controlling, as well as sports economics and higher education. However, the topics of sustainability and digital transformation did not only appear in separate specific sections, but also recurred in a number of other talks, which clearly shows the growing academic importance of these research areas, too- said András Nábrádi, Head of the Doctoral School of Management and Business (Doctoral Program in Management and Organizational Sciences) and also of the Department of Business Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, to hirek.unideb.hu.
The international students participating in the conference had a chance to present the findings of their research activities in separate sections. The topics discussed by them included energy sustainability, the internationalization of higher education, global value chains, corporate sustainability and organizational management issues. The papers and talks presented in the international student sections showcased the work of researchers from several continents in African, Asian and European contexts.
- This level of diversity resulted in a pluralism not only in the geographical, but also in the methodological sense. A significant proportion of the presentations was based on empirical research, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The range of papers and talks included statistical analyses, panel models, eye-tracking studies, systematic literature reviews and even case studies. The consequent methodological richness substantially contributed to the excellent quality of the academic discourse and to the professional soundness of the feedback received- said András Nábrádi.
The head of the Doctoral School of Management and Business (and of the Doctoral Program in Management and Organizational Sciences) added that the conference also provided an opportunity for networking, while the online sections enhanced accessibility and international participation, which proves to be an important criterion for modern scientific and scholarly events. András Nábrádi’s assessment of the conference highlighted that it successfully contributed to increasing the visibility of doctoral research, the academic socialization of young researchers, and the strengthening of international scientific and scholarly cooperation.
