The Türk Sarok, which is unique in Hungary, opened its doors in December 2024 under the auspices of the Faculty of Humanities (BTK) at UD. Its activities focus on presenting the cultural heritage of Central Asian countries – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan – promoting their traditions and languages, and strengthening partnerships with the institution.
– As this occasion shows, the relationship is working successfully in both directions. Over the next ten days or so, teachers from two Uzbek higher education institutions, TIIAME National Research University (The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers) and the National University of Uzbekistan, will learn a language assessment and evaluation method developed by staff at the Faculty of Humanities, which they will then be able to successfully apply in teacher training in their home country, Péter Csatár, Deputy Dean for Strategy and Economics at DE BTK, told the hirek.unideb.hu portal.
During the language assessment and evaluation training, the course provides theoretical and practical preparation in language assessment and evaluation. A unique feature is that it also presents the exam development and training materials of the university's DExam exam center. Ildikó Csépes, head of the Department of English Language Pedagogy and Methodology (non-independent) at the Institute of British and American Studies. Faculty of Humanities, UD, and Erzsébet Bölcskei, language teacher and DExam exam coordinator.
The teaching material has already been introduced to students participating in UD teacher training, and guest students will now get a taste of it.
We are confident that this training will further strengthen our existing relationships with our Uzbek partner institutions, so we look forward to hearing about how successfully they have been able to apply the knowledge they have acquired here in their home country. Positive feedback will guarantee the organization of further similar training courses not only for Uzbek teachers, but also for teachers from universities in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan," emphasized Okszana Kiszil, Head of the Coordination and Strategy Directorate of the Rector's Office at the University of Debrecen.
