The meeting between the University of Debrecen and the higher education institutions of the Republic of the Philippines, held by Endre Harsányi with the Ambassador of the Southeast Asian island state, could launch new educational and research cooperation. The delegation of Maria Elena P Algabre was received on Thursday by the Vice Rector for Sector Development, responsible for the development of agricultural and food sciences, at the Böszörményi Road campus.
The University of Debrecen currently has 39 students from the Philippines, most of them in the Faculty of Health Sciences, but many have chosen the institution's medical, agricultural and doctoral programmes, with some students also enrolled in technical, computer, economic and natural sciences courses, the meeting revealed, The meeting was attended by Endre Harsányi, Vice Rector for Sector Development for Agricultural and Food Science Development, Maria Elena P Algabre, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Consul Jeffrey Salik and Péter István Fejér, UD AKIT International Relations Officer, at the Böszörményi Road campus.
- The University of Debrecen attaches great importance to strengthening its international network. The meeting with the Ambassador brought positive results beyond expectations, and we agreed that we would also like to establish cooperation in the field of education and research with higher education institutions in the Republic of the Philippines," the Vice-Rector stressed.
Following the meeting, the Ambassador and the Consul also met with students studying at the university.
