- It is my privilege to express my appreciation to all of you, who, as a result of your hard work, perseverance and dedication over the years, are present today to receive your diplomas and certificates in the undergraduate program of medical diagnostic analysis and the master’s programs of health psychology, clinical laboratory research and molecular biology. Your expertise is a commodity that is indeed highly needed these days. Medical laboratory diagnostic and research analysts as well as imaging and pathological diagnostic analysts are indispensable specialists in the field of effective modern medicine. The methods you will be using during your career play a fundamental part in recognizing diseases, choosing the proper therapy and monitoring its effectiveness- said Norbert Németh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen, in his ceremonial speech.
Professor Németh also added the following: Nowadays, large multicenter drug trials, the development of modern diagnostic procedures, their testing and the integration of their results into everyday medical practice constitute basic requirements for effective and safe patient care. Clinical laboratory researchers are skilled in designing and implementing research of this kind, while they also provide indispensable assistance for ensuring rigorous research methodology and a patient-centric approach.
Furthermore, Norbert Németh emphasized that immense tasks would await graduates with a molecular biology MSc in research, diagnostics and patient care. The development of molecular sciences in recent decades and the expansion of technological possibilities continue to open up new horizons in increasing the efficiency and success of medical treatments. He noted that there is also a great need today for the expertise and humanity of newly qualified clinical health psychologists, who serve to preserve and restore the physical and mental health of patients.
- All of you have also acquired the strong foundations that will enable continuous development and the acquisition of new scientific knowledge and methods during your professional career. I also hope that many of you will become a proactive part of this through research, development and innovation efforts leading to new discoveries. Above all, however, I wish that your dedicated work and its effectiveness, directly or indirectly, should always serve the interests of your patients. Keep the memory of your alma mater in your mind and heart, and be guided by the respect shown to patients, the understanding and the desire to help them, as well as humble love and enthusiasm towards science- said the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in closing.
Altogether, there were ninety-three graduates taking their oaths and receiving their diplomas at the closing ceremony.
The number of students who successfully completed their studies in the undergraduate medical diagnostic analysis program was forty-five, while twenty-one of them graduated in the master’s program in health psychology, two in the master’s program in clinical laboratory research and twenty-five in the master’s program in molecular biology.
- Ladies and gentlemen: newly inaugurated medical diagnostic analysts, certified health psychologists, certified clinical laboratory researchers and certified molecular biologists. With the diploma and/or certificate earned through your studies and efforts, you will have the noble task of preserving the prestige of your fine profession in order to contribute to the rise of our people. I wish you all the best: a lot of joy and success in practicing your fine vocation- said Dénes Páll, Commissioned Vice-Rector for General Affairs of the University of Debrecen, to the fresh graduates.
