Several hundred students become IT professionals and receive their diplomas

Altogether, a total of 350 Hungarian and international students earned their degrees at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen in the spring semester. In an address delivered at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, Dean András Hajdu underlined that, in a world full of challenges and shaped by artificial intelligence, the knowledge that the young professionals who graduate from the faculty have obtained is going to be needed more than ever

“Graduating IT professionals must work with an awareness of their outstanding responsibility for the future of society. For them, the world has opened up, thanks to the fact that they are in possession of such a high level of professional knowledge that they can not only shape the future, but also exert an influence on everyday life,” said András Hajdu, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen, in his opening speech. According to him, obtaining a diploma and acquiring the related knowledge is only the beginning of the road. While the responsibility of qualified students remains unquestionable in the long run, their career path is “paved” with numerous challenges.

“A special feature of this program is that students get a chance to gain insight into a number of different scientific fields, as they will be able to work in a lot of these fields due to the interdisciplinary nature of informatics. You will be able to utilize your knowledge of data security and artificial intelligence in almost every walk of life, which is why your expertise is needed more today than ever before. You have the ability now to serve and satisfy a variety of social and market needs with your wide range of knowledge in the constantly developing field of informatics, irrespective of whether it is about health science, transportation, research or everyday activities. The long-term objective of our faculty is to expand the existing program structure by continuing to develop the currently available knowledge, by expanding its international network, adapting knowledge to labor market expectations and complementing the preparedness of students with a supply of up-to-date information. This degree, and your diploma, together constitute a splendid opportunity that gives you the license to build a career that can determine and, in a broader sense, influence the fate of humanity for so many years to come,” said the head of the faculty.
