Information on research activities and opportunities for international students

Students who are currently enrolled in the English-language programs offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) were given presentations at an event organized by the International Student Union (ISU) on the academic work conducted at the FST, the possibilities for getting involved in TDK (Student Scientific Conference) and on the talent management programs conducted by the university.

Ferenc Kun, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology welcomed the international audience at the event held in the lecture hall of the Life Sciences Building. The head of the faculty emphasized that the intention of the organizers was to fill the information gap that international students may have experienced when expressing their interest to join the academic and scientific activities hosted and practiced by the faculty.

“We are happy to note that even the students participating in the English-language programs start to get to know more about the Student Scientific Conference opportunities, which becomes more and more popular with our international students as time passes,” said Ferenc Kun in his welcoming address. The dean also expressed his hopes concerning the possibility of even more students getting involved in internationally significant research activities conducted at the FST.

In his consequent presentation, Ferenc Kun gave an overview of the research portfolio available in the institutions of the FST and elaborated on the extraordinarily strong network of corporate connections of the faculty, which also plays an important part in basic and applied research projects. The dean underlined the fact that researchers from the faculty have published studies in prestigious periodicals, such as Nature and Science, as well as participated in the work of the editorial boards of a number of internationally acclaimed scientific journals.

The next presentation was given by Gábor Zoltán Boros, Head of the Department of Analysis of FST UD, who talked in detail about Student Scientific Conferences, while the talent management program of the institution (DETEP) was presented by Zsuzsanna Mándy from DE Tudományos Igazgatóság [Scientific Directorate of UD]. Finally, international students already taking part in research projects of FST also shared their insights and their own personal experience with the audience.
