Geoinformatics from Experts

The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen has a new dual partner. According to the cooperation agreement signed by UD and MoD Zrínyi Mapping and Communication Servicing Non-profit Ltd., students of the Institute of Earth Sciences can gain an insight into the up-to-date geographical information systems (GIS) used in the field of national defence.

- The dual programmes of the University of Debrecen are very popular, because they offer up-to-date knowledge to students through a combination of high-level education and industry experience, and supply companies with highly trained professionals at the same time. The Faculty considers this form of education as a high priority area, and therefore seeks to increase the number of its dual partners – explained the dean of the Faculty.

The most recent dual partner of the Faculty is MoD Zrínyi Mapping and Communication Servicing Non-profit Ltd. (MoD Zrínyi). The cooperation agreement was signed by dean Ferenc Kun and Gábor Kulcsár, managing director of MoD Zrínyi, in Budapest on 1 June.

- With a portfolio that is unique in Hungary, MoD Zrínyi deals with all segments of data collection, data processing and geography, which allows students to acquire practical knowledge that is in line with their special area in geoinformatics and represent an invaluable asset on the job market – said Gábor Kulcsár, managing director of MoD Zrínyi.

The purpose of this cooperation agreement is to ensure that students of the Institute of Earth Science have access to practical training, but it also aims to ensure a steady supply of expertise and highly trained professionals for DoM Zrínyi, so that it can continuously provide geoinformatics and mapping services to the Hungarian Defence Forces.
