The student of the Department of Vocal and Opera Studies has won first place in the Academic Voice category in one of the most prestigious singing competitions in Europe.
Competitors had to sing an aria of their choice. Aida entered the competition with the countess’ aria from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, which is a huge challenge for singers.
- I had several arias to choose from, and I wanted to enter the competition with the best one. We worked hard to make the recordings as perfect as possible. This Spanish competition, where a jury comprised of highly acknowledged professionals evaluated the performances, was a good opportunity to test myself – Aida Kövér told hirek.unideb.hu.
Ildikó Iván, associate professor of the Faculty of Music, who prepared Aida for the competition, also thinks that in professional sense this competition was an excellent opportunity, and the reward is to perform on stage.
- The organisers of the competition also manage art festivals, where the winner can perform. This is a huge opportunity. I am very proud of Aida. During the pandemic, only online competitions were available for young talents to prove their skills. I tried to motivate and inspire my students. Those online competitions are still announced on a regular basis, so we keep making recordings – said associate professor Ildikó Iván.
The winners of the various categories of the online competition can perform at a music festival in 2023. Aida Kövér will be among them as a winning opera singer.
