Along with the previously announced Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Azahriah, the American Gayle, who will celebrate her 20th birthday this summer, the French world star DJ Martin Solveig, the Canadian rock 'n' roll band Danko Jones and the best-known Swedish band in indie-fellan music, Mando Diao, will also be coming to Debrecen. One thing is certai, the 2024 line-up will be extremely diverse in terms of international acts, as will the national line-up, which already boasts more than 140 names.
The Campus Festival, one of the biggest summer popular music and cultural events in Hungary, will be back again between 24 July and 28 July 2024, and as usual, Debrecen will be the venue for another eventful festival in 2024. Just to mention the European University Games, jointly organised by the University of Debrecen and the University of Miskolc, the closing ceremony of which will take place on the opening day of the Campus Festival, on the festival grounds. This coincidence will add unprecedented colour to this year's festival, the exact details of which will be announced later. And speaking of universities, the higher education thresholds will also become public on 24 July, so the Campus Festival in Debrecen will be the central venue for the national Point There Parties.
As for the music programme, Gayle, after creating the biggest hit of 2021 with her composition ABCDEFU, her angry and outspoken song went viral on TikTok and has become a global sensation. Like the Dallas-born young singer, Martin Solveig is preparing for his first East Hungarian performance. The French DJ is a fan of Hungary and has long been a staple on DJ Mag's 100 list, with his party anthem 'Hello' already having over 100 million views.
- Of course, the international offer does not end there - continued András Süli, Programme Director. "The Swedish alternative rock band Mando Diao, founded 25 years ago, is also preparing for their concert in Debrecen, but they won't be the only Scandinavian guest this year, as Darude, the cult Finnish DJ and music producer, whose mega hit Sandstorm has become an indelible dance anthem for a whole generation, will be arriving.
Unique in the country, Campus will also feature a separate stage for rap/hip-hop and rock/metal. On the latter, festival-goers can catch Danko Jones, straight from Canada, whose hard rock records are infused with a punk and blues attitude. It says a lot about them that Motörhead frontman Lemmy also sang on one of their hits. They are known far and wide for their energetic live shows. Among the international names, Queen Omega, who will be familiar to many, is the Trinidadian reggae-dancehall singer whose voice can be heard on Azahriah's Four Moods II. Her special performance with her band The Royal Souls can be seen onThursday at the Water Tower Garden. Who knows, maybe the two artists will also perform together in Debrecen? Once they arrive on the same day, anything can happen on Campus...
As for the Hungarian line-up, as usual for the Campus Festival, a wide range of Hungarian performers will be present in the Nagyerdő this year. Also typical of the organisers, there will be a few curiosities that will make the four days special: besides Azahriah's only summer performance in Eastern Hungary, Amorf Ördögök, who will return after a break of many years, will give their first festival concert in Debrecen, and Thy Catafalque, who have achieved great international success in the avant-garde metal genre, will prepare for their only summer concert in Hungary. Tankcsapda will also celebrate its 35th anniversary in an unusual way: on three different days, in three different venues, with three different programmes. The organisers are not only looking to cater for young festival-goers: the Music Train with the stars of LGT, R-Go or Republic will offer older fans a great way to relax. And the announcements don't stop there: several Hungarian favourites are also planning big solo concerts in the spring, and
the festival will announce their names afterwards.
