The international organisation evaluated the universities along seven indicators: quality of education (measured by the number of university alumni who have received prestigious international awards - 25%), alumni employment (the number of alumni who have held CEO positions at top companies - 25%), quality of faculty (measured by the number of academics who have won major international awards - 10%), and research performance (measured by the total number of research papers, all publications published in top-tier journals, and influence of the publications – 40.
- The University of Debrecen excelled at research performance, thus demonstrating the weight and influence of our research results, Ákos Pintér told hirek.unideb.hu. The general vice rector of the university stressed: international testing is important as is successful performance in various international rankings.
- This can provide us with feedback about the levels of research and education as well as scientific work at our university, and the fact that more and more foreign students, 5800, more than at any other university, choose the English-language courses of the University of Debrecen to study at may even be attributable to this international reputation, stressed Ákos Pintér.
The ranking is headed by three universities of the USA: Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University. In addition to UD, 9 other Hungarian universities have also made the ranking list: Eötvös Loránd University, Semmelweis University, Szeged University, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Pécs University, the University of Central Europe, Pannon University, Corvinus University, and Szent István University.
The University of Debrecen is the oldest university of Hungary, that has been functioning in the same city for a long time, offers it students opportunities for academic education with 14 faculties at bachelor’s and master’s levels, and 24 doctoral schools in the PhD training on 8 campuses. The University of Debrecen has been ranked in the top 4% by the Center for World University Rankings, which measures the performance of 20.000 institutions of higher education worldwide. The university was ranked 724 on the CWUR Ranking List published Monday.
