Expanding agrarian connections with the Middle East

Representatives of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen and the Faculty of Medicinal and Industrial Plants of Kirkuk University in Iraq signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday in order to develop and implement an exchange program for students and researchers, initiate professional cooperation and promote joint research projects.

In the framework of a future cooperation in the fields of education and research, the two institutions plan to publish joint scientific publications and also host online and hybrid conferences.
 

“As an important part of this agreement, students from Kirkuk University will also be able to attend courses in the bachelor and master programs at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of UD, as well as our summer intensive courses. The objective of our partnership is to continue to expand the international network of our institution and to provide even more opportunities for the members of our research and student community to acquire study and professional experience abroad,” said László Stündl, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen to hirek.unideb.hu.


According to Dean Khalid Khalil Ahmed, a representative of the Faculty of Medicinal and Industrial Plants at Kirkuk University, the act of signing the agreement is but the first step in the cooperation between our institutions that will help the internationalization of Kirkuk University.


“It is through this partnership that we aim to improve our performance indicators in international higher education rankings. We also hope to expand and extend our cooperation to include other faculties of the University of Debrecen,” said Khalid Khalil Ahmed. 

Following the official signing of the MoU, the faculty leaders agreed upon initiating further discussions and negotiations.
