Hungarian Dishes Served at the Welcome Dinner

As a conclusion to the programme series entitled Welcome Week, organisers invited foreign students to a welcome dinner at the University of Debrecen on Friday. At the event students were able to get an insight into Hungarian cuisine and culture as well.

The dinner was attended by 80 foreign students who arrived at the university in the framework of various scholarship programmes. The event was started with Hungarian folk music and folk dance, then, traditional Hungarian dishes, including stuffed cabbage and doughnuts were served, along with Hungarian wines.

After the dinner students were invited to the "dance house" at the Aula, where they could familiarise themselves with the basic steps of Hungarian folk dance and enjoy the beauty of the Hungarian national dress.

The Welcome Week programme series was jointly organised by the International Office, ESN Debrecen, and the Foreign Affairs Committee of Student Self Government. The purpose of the week was to allow foreign students to get acquainted with members of the organisations, the programmes offered by the organisations, and the students who would be their mentors.
