November 28 has already been the second occasion for H.E. Ms. Heba Negm to visit the University of Debrecen. As a counsellor, last year, she was accompanied by Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Elshinawy to collect information about the wide range of courses offered and research activities conducted at our university, together with its international network of contacts beyond Europe in Asia and the Arab world, and its unique innovation structure.
The Egyptian International University Campus possibility had already been introduced as a cooperation opportunity at last year's meeting, and now further details of it were presented on Thursday by Ms. Heba Negm, acting currently as Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy in Budapest.
At a meeting with Károly Pető, Vice-Rector General and Okszána Kiszil, Director of Coordination and Strategy, she urged the University of Debrecen to join the International Campus program system, which currently has six foreign universities among its members, including American, Chinese, Italian and Canadian institutions of higher education.
The Charge d’Affaires noted that the feedback from Egyptian students enrolled at the University of Debrecen was very favorable. Currently, there are 431 international students from Egypt at the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Informatics. The largest number of these students is in the field of medicine, which, according to the Ambassador, could be the field of study that would allow the University of Debrecen to be present on the international campus in Egypt.
With the aim of further expanding the range of cooperation, as a next step, the parties also discussed the possibility of establishing a connection between the University of Debrecen and Alexandria University.
Following the official meeting, H.E. Heba Negm also met with Egyptian students enrolled at the University of Debrecen, the same way as she had done during her visit last year.
