Rector of Lankaran State University Natig Ibrahimov, together with Vice Rector Elvin Aliyev and Head of the International Office Gunel Mammadova, recently paid a visit to the University of Debrecen in order to expand the currently available channels of educational cooperation.
The representatives of the Azeri institution of higher education, which has five faculties (including natural sciences; philology and elementary pedagogy; history, geography and art; economics and management; agriculture and engineering), intend to launch a dual-degree program together with the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen. In order to discuss the relevant possibilities, the delegation members also visited these faculties at the Böszörményi Road campus.
As Rector Natig Ibrahimov underlined, there would be also be further partnerships established in the fields of culture, literature and music, as well as larger volumes of mobility on the part of teachers and students. At present, there are 64 international students enrolled at the University of Debrecen from Azerbaijan, most of whom are involved in programs offered by the Faculty of Informatics, the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Economics.
The Uzbek Karshi Engineering Economics Institute also wishes to strengthen their cooperation efforts. In a meeting with Vice-Rector General Károly Pető and Director of Coordination and Strategy Okszána Kiszil, Rector Orifjan Bazarov of the Uzbek university, which specializes mainly in economics, engineering and technical fields, identified agricultural, economic and technical sciences as the primary target areas for launching dual-degree master's programs with the University of Debrecen.
Deputy Head of the International Institute of Karshi Engineering Economics Institute Nurbek Kobilov explained that, in addition to the MSc programs, they would also be looking for opportunities in doctoral studies for their students. In order to map up these opportunities, the Uzbek institution heads conducted meetings with the representatives of our Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences as well as with those of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Engineering.
