Debrecen Drive - on the road to the future

Electromobility and sustainability will be the central themes of the conference and professional forum organised by the University of Debrecen at this year's Debrecen Drive. The country's largest automotive event will feature more professional events than ever before, with more than 800 different vehicles, oldtimers and premium top-of-the-range cars and a spectacular night drive show in the area of the Nagyerdei Stadium for three days from 24 May.

As part of the colourful programme of the fourth Debrecen Drive, visitors will be able to admire a collection of more than 250 saloon cars and 800 different vehicles, including a collection of almost 200 pedal cars, unique in Europe.

- From the very beginning, Debrecen Drive was intended to be a family-friendly event. We have designed this year's programme and ticket prices accordingly. All the shows, exhibitions and games are included in the ticket price, so everything is set to ensure families have a great time. Families can also bring their own blankets, food and drinks to the event," said Péter Miklósvölgyi, Managing Director of Debrecen Campus N.K. Kft. at the press conference on Thursday.
According to László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, the success of the Debrecen Drive is shown by the fact that as the youngest major event in the city, it reached 35,000 visitors last year, making it one of the most important events in Debrecen.
- Ten years ago, we would never have imagined that Debrecen would become the automotive capital of Europe by 2020. The goal is to make our city not only the centre of the automotive industry, but also the future of the automotive industry. Debrecen Drive is suitable for outlining the perspectives for events to come," said László Papp.

In his speech, Zoltán Bács, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen, pointed out that Debrecen Drive is more than just a show and an experience programme, it is also an important element of a diverse professional conference presenting the latest trends and achievements of the automotive industry, organised by the Institute of Management and Organisation at the University of Debrecen.

- This year's conference will focus on electromobility and sustainability, expected to shape the future decades of the automotive industry. The city of Debrecen has been the scene of significant developments in recent years, particularly in the field of e-mobility. However, in addition to the economic and technological benefits, this development also poses a challenge for the city and thus for the University of Debrecen. At the conference, we would like to present new things in the field of research and development that are of interest to both professionals and lay people," said Zoltán Bács, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen. The university leader added that several faculties of the institution also conduct research related to the automotive industry and electromobility.

According to László Páll, CEO of Debreceni Campus N.K. Ltd., Debrecen Drive is a celebration of the automotive industry.
- The entrance to the event will again be at the roundabout at the junction of Pallagi út and Nagyerdei körút. The premium, top-of-the-range cars will be on display in the Nagyerdei Stadium, which has turned  ten years old this year. The area around the Ködszínház theatre will host children's programmes. The tunning cars will be located on the eastern side of the stadium," said László Páll.
