Young pharmacists from Central Asia doing research at the University of Debrecen

At present, there is a group of young Uzbek pharmacists participating in an internship at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen. These visitors from Central Asia are currently familiarizing themselves with the scientific work conducted here in Debrecen, gaining insight into state-of-the-art laboratory methods, taking part in current research projects and conducting studies related to their own research topics.

Fourteen young Uzbek scientists are involved in a six-week professional internship at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen (UD). They are the practitioners of a variety of pharmaceutical sciences, and the majority of them specialize in pharmacology and pharmaceutical technology, representing the Department of Pharmacy and Chemistry at Alfraganus University in Tashkent, the Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry at the National University of Uzbekistan, and the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute.

The objective of the program, implemented with the support of the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is to strengthen international scientific cooperation, facilitate the exchange of research experience and support the professional development of young researchers.

During the course of the program, the participants will become familiar with the scientific work conducted at the departments Faculty of Pharmacy, gain insight into state-of-the-art laboratory methods and take an active part in currently pursued research projects. A special feature of their internship is that each one of them can also conduct experiments related to their own research topic, so the experience acquired here will directly contribute to the progress of their research in the future.

-This initiative not only presents outstanding professional opportunities for young scientists but also extends scientific connections between the relevant institutions in the long run. By establishing the foundation for joint research, publications and future collaborations in the framework of grants, the program contributes to the international advancement of pharmaceutical and chemical research- said Ildikó Bácskay, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen.

In addition, during their stay at the University of Debrecen, the interns from Uzbekistan also visited our Turkic Corner, a unique community space within the university, dedicated to showcasing the cultural heritage of countries in Central Asia by introducing their traditions and promoting their languages.
