Documentary Series on the Herbs of the Region

Staff from the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of the Faculty of Pharmacy of UD have visited the shooting in Oradea of a documentary series about the herbs of the areas around Oradea and Debrecen. The shooting will continue this summer in the Botanical Garden of the University of Debrecen.

As a winner of the Hungarian “Mecenatúra” grant, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Oradea has been given the opportunity to present herbs with medicinal properties  with which the university has achieved outstanding research results. As the main research partner of the university, the Faculty of Pharmacy of UD was also represented at the shooting by several staff members. The shooting took place in the garden of the Baroque Palace of Oradea, in the city centre and on the premises of the university. The episodes filmed in Oradea introduce ten herbs, including Viola tricolor, Viola odorata, black locust and calendula. The shooting will continue in Debrecen in June. The crew will work in the botanical garden of UD, among other locations.

- The series will consist of 10 episodes, each of which will be about a herb in 6-10 minutes. The universities of Debrecen and Oradea will also be introduced in the series. According to plan, during the shooting in Debrecen a chef will cook special dishes using herbs – Ildikó Bácskay, vice dean for educational affairs of the Faculty of Pharmacy of UD told hirek.unideb.hu.

Vice dean Bácskay pointed out that the Faculty had been in contact with the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Oradea since 2016. In the framework of their close cooperation in the areas of research and education, the two universities have applied together for Domus, Erasmus and EFOP grants with cross-border projects, which have resulted in numerous international publications. Leaders of the two institutions have agreed to extend their partnership to further educational and research areas in the future.
