The fifteen students of the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work arrived at the Nyíregyháza campus of UD on 4 March. The two universities have been cooperating in the framework of an international agreement since 1995. One of the results of this partnership is the master’s programme in healthcare social work.
- Our cooperation also involves joint research programmes, which have resulted in numerous Hungarian and international publications and lecture notes in recent years. One of the most important of these works is the English-Hungarian and Hungarian-English dictionary of social work, which was compiled jointly by lecturers of the two universities and published in 2014 – Gergely Fábián told hirek.unideb.hu.
The vice dean for general affairs and development of the Faculty of Health pointed out that lecturers of UD had visited Kentucky several times and attended international conferences organised jointly by the universities. The American university sends groups of students and lecturers to Nyíregyháza every two years. This year the group is led by David A. Jenkins, dean of the University of Louisville, who has visited Hungary for the first time.
During their study visit, the American students will, among other things, familiarize themselves with the academic, talent development and research programmes of the Faculty of Health, as well as with the best practices applied at rehab facilities in Nyíregyháza and in social and healthcare services. The group will return to the US on 9 March.
