András Jávor, the general vice rector of the University of Debrecen, was elected as the vice president of the Committee of Cross-Border Higher Education Institutions of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference.
The body consisting of representatives of higher education institutions abroad teaching Hungarian language, meeting in Eger on 9 November, unanimously elected András Jávor as their vice president.
In his position, Dr. Jávor’s tasks in the next two years wil include launching and ensuring the successful operation of the Makovecz Programme, designed to support cross-border institutions, with the help of which 300 students from Hungary and abroad will receive opportunities to study at another Hungarian university for five months. All universities in the Carpathian Basin where Hungarian language education is available will be involved in what has been dubbed the “Hungarian Erasmus Programme.”
